Far West Ski Association Honors Top Young Skiers

The Far west Ski Association completed it’s picks for junior athlete grant scholarships. Honorees were chosen for their alpine racing performance and potential. The money is to be used for training and competition fees for this season. These athletes excel at competition as well as academics where they hold a collective average GPA of 3.8.  Three of the five locals hold a 4.0 GPA.

Garret Driller ($500), age 15

Driller is from Tahoe City and attends North Tahoe High School.

Hannah Johnson ($500), age 15


Johnson is from Incline Village and attends Incline High School.

Dylan Murtha ($750), age 17

Murtha is from Truckee and is a senior at the Sugar Bowl Academy.

Lila Lapanja ($1000), age 16

Lapanja is from Incline Village and attends the Forest Charter School in Truckee.

Morganne Murphy ($1000), age 17

Murphy is from Truckee and attends the Forest Charter School in Truckee.

The Far West Ski Association conducts active programs in public affairs, skier safety, ski heritage, athletics, racing, communications, travel, council development, ski industry, and community outreach. It was founded in 1930.
