Vail Resorts, owner of Heavenly and NorthStar launched their enhanced slope safety campaign across their six resorts. Their goal is to encourage their guests and employees to ski/ride responsibly so everyone can have fun. Vail is enlisting Lindsay Vonn and Shaun White to help spread the word with video communications.
Part of the campaign is to hire and train "Yellow Jacket" safety employees who are out on the slopes providing a safety presence and awareness.
This slope safety campaign just happens to come within a week of the fall and resulting death of the boy who fell from Sugar Bowl's chair lift. Just yesterday we learned of a lawsuit filed by a Heavenly guest that was struck and injured by a snowboard riding employee of Heavenly.
