The body of a 24 year old man, missing since Monday, was pulled from Donner Lake today. The man, Eric William Kiser, and a 19 year old woman capsized in their canoe Monday night. The woman was able to swim to shore uninjured. The Truckee Police received the 911 call at 6:26pm. A search was conducted that night without success. The canoe and clothing items drifted to shore near the Donner Lake Marina.
On Tuesday, several agencies using a helicopter, sonar, divers, and a remote vehicle searched all day and were unable to locate Kiser. Lake surface temperature was reported at 39 degrees.
The search resumed Wednesday morning. Kiser was located in 15 feet of water, 150 yards from shore at about 11:00am. An investigation into the accident is underway.
