Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe planning expansion

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is proposing to spend 23.5 million in expansion and upgrades to provide a better experience for skiers of all abilities.  Upgrades include the opening of 99 more acres with beginner and intermediate runs.  A pedestrian bridge would be built over the Mount Rose Highway to access the new area.  Other projects include a new lodge near the top of Slide Mountain and an expansion of the two year old Mt. Rose Lodge.
A total of 13 improvements are under review by Washoe County planners with a tentative hearing before the Board of Adjustment on February 2nd.  If the permits and environmental impact study get approved in a timely fashion, construction could conceivably start some time in 2013.

Mt. Rose would like to upgrade the Ponderosa and Galena lifts with detachable high speed chairs.  They would like to add a parallel lift to Blazing Zephyr that would cater to the snowboard park.  They would also add new lifts in the new ski area on the other side of Mount Rose Highway.

Mt. Rose is also committed to improved snowmaking with additional water holding ponds and snow guns.
