NorthStar Skiing

The skiing was a little better today than earlier in the week. The nighttime temperatures have been a little lower and the snow makers are going again. Getting there for the opening runs (8:30am) and leaving before noon seem like the best snow. I used my rock skis today because I was tired of trying to protect my good boards. Using old skis really makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.

I finally stopped in at the new Zephyr Lodge to explore inside. It’s really an amazing building with it’s carpeted floor, stone counter surfaces, high ceiling and huge glass wall with a panoramic view toward Castle Peak.  Even the bathroom had more stone surfaces than the lobby at the Ritz.  The only thing missing was the gentleman that hands out towels when you leave.

When I left today at 11:30am they were still making snow. All we need now is the real thing.
