Fast moving storm moving into the Sierra

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1am to 10am Feb. 15, for Reno to Carson City and Minden.  A “quick moving” storm is moving in to produce “heavy snow”.  They expect the heaviest snow will occur between 2 and 8am. Accumulations of 2 to 5 inches on the valley floors are expected, with up to 8 inches possible above 7,000 feet.
Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible during the commute hours for the Tahoe basin and along Hwy. 80, 50 and 395. The storm should clear to sunny days for Thursday and Friday, before the next chance of a storm comes in on Saturday for the 3 day weekend.
