The North Face Masters big mountain snowboarding event scheduled for March 1-4 at Kirkwood has been cancelled. The reason: Lack of snow. With a snow base of less than 100 inches, there just isn’t enough coverage to satisfy the event organizers. They feel the event could be dangerous without the right snow conditions.
The event has been postponed until March 29-April 1, when they hope some snowfall will increase coverage to a point where additional lines down the mountain will open up.
The Masters is a 3 stop tour specifically tailored to fill a competition gap in the sport of Big Mountain Snowboarding. Riders push their limits in a pure environment, testing their creativity and athleticism over natural cliffs, tight chutes, and steep powder stashes.
The final stop on the tour is April 12-15 at Snowbird.
