Tough Mudder has added NorthStar California to its worldwide event schedule. Tough Mudder is an untimed endurance “event”, not a race. The challenge it to complete the “hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.” Tough Mudder encourages participants to sign up together and form teams to help them get through the events.
Tough Mudder was founded by Will Dean, a former agent for the British Government. Dean considers marathons, triathlons, and adventure runs as repetitive and unimaginative. Dean says his events are located close to major cities so “you can compete against thousands of other inspiring participants, not just thirty endurance geeks with more time and money than sense.”
Tough Mudder says it has raised more than $2 million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that raises awareness and assists wounded service men and women.
The date for NorthStar’s Tough Mudder event is September 22nd and 23rd, 2012. You can sign-up now at a cost of $125 dollars. The price goes up to $200 dollars after July.
No disrespect for Mr. Dean, but I guess I have too much time, money, athletic prowess, and sense to participate in his event. I am just a happy endurance geek that will be out there on the course watching from my uninspiring mountain bike.
