The Ability Bash is a fundraiser for Disabled Sports USA Far West, honoring soldiers and marines disabled in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Bash is Saturday, March 31 in the Olympic Valley Lodge, Squaw Valley.
Disabled Sports will be hosting 25 soldiers and marines for a week long ability camp at the program center in Alpine Meadows. The camp will include adaptive skiing, snowboarding, sled hockey and snowmobiling, as therapy and reintegration into the community.
The Ability Bash will be the culmination of the week and will feature a gourmet dinner, fine wines, microbrews, raffle prizes, silent auction, and music from the 70’s and 80’s. The Bash has been one of North Tahoe’s premier events for over 15 years.
I have attended the last two years and found it to be an uplifting evening and a chance to thank our returning soldiers. Tickets are available to individuals for $100 and businesses are encouraged to buy a table (10 persons) for $1000. Disabled Sports USA Far West is of course a recognized “non-profit” so your payments are tax deductible.
