Cushing Crossing at Squaw this Sunday

The 22nd annual Cushing Crossing will be this Sunday (April 29) on Squaw's season closing day. Cushing Crossing is a pond-skimming event where the idea is to get across Lake Cushing on skis, snowboard, or ski/snowboard-based contraption. Costumes are encouraged and the rules are few.

Registration opens Sunday at the KT Base Bar for $20 dollars. Life jackets and helmets are required. The “competition” begins at 1 pm. Competitors will be judged on style, grace, creativity and a successful crossing of the lake.

This is a great spectator event. Get there early for the best viewing areas around the lake. If you arrive later, you can always stand on the chairs and tables at the KT Base Bar.

Bring your skis/board and ski in the morning before the Crossing. I skied Squaw today and had plenty of fun in the spring conditions. There is still good coverage at High Camp.
