About the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway

The Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway is a nonprofit organization that intends to complete a 116 mile bikeway from Tahoe City to Pyramid Lake. The founder, Janet Philips, went public with the bikeway concept in 2003. Support and cash have been growing ever since.

Nearly half of the 116 miles is rideable now, but the completed pieces aren’t contiguous. The real work will be getting a bikeway built between Truckee and Verdi, Nevada.

The newest section opened May 9, 2012, in the McCrarran Ranch restoration area. This is a 9 mile section East of Reno along the Truckee River.

The Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway was recently selected to receive a national award for design and construction from the Coalition for Recreational Trails. The award was granted to eight projects across the U.S. for the best use of federal trail grants. Janet Philips will travel to Washington D.C. to receive the award.

The Bikeway leadership team meets monthly on the second Thursday of every month in downtown Reno. Anyone interested in the bikeway is invited to join. The bikeway is always looking for volunteers and donations. Visit:
