Gravity and Pump riding in the Tahoe Truckee area

Cyclists have been enjoying the great weather and conditions for road and trail riding for weeks now. However, for a large group of riders, their specialized sport requires gravity. Typically, the kind of gravity downhill riders are looking for only comes from a ski resort in the summer.

The NorthStar California Mountain Bike Park is scheduled to open on June 15, 2012. NorthStar offers miles of terrain and trails, bike rentals, bike lessons, repairs, lift access and Thursday night bike races.

Kirkwood Ski Resort offers mountain bike lift access to their terrain starting July 7, 2012.

June 10 will be the grand opening party for the Truckee Pump Track Project. The Pump Track at Truckee River Park is a skills course for BMX and mountain bikes. The course is filled with banked turns, jumps, bumps, and course options for imaginative riding. It should be a great place to exercise and socialize.

There will be a free barbecue on June 10 for the grand opening.
