Heavenly Resort improvements will begin in August

Heavenly Mountain Resort will begin work consistent with the previously accepted Master Plan.  Heavenly wants to improve the “guest experience” in winter and summer.
For the winter experience, Heavenly will be adding a 500-600 foot rope tow to the terrain park at the Powderbowl Express lift.  The existing trail used for the park will be widened to provide a wider range and size of park features as well as room for the new lift.
There will also be some grading work near the top of Galaxy lift to remove the uphill segment skiers/riders had to traverse before they could start skiing.
A new “Adventure Zone” for kids will be added between upper Powderbowl Run and Mombo Run near the top of Powderbowl Express.  This is a self-guided experience to learn about the Tahoe Basin.

For the summer experience, they plan to construct a 3,000-3,500 square foot area for weddings and presentations near the mid-station gondola.
They also plan to conduct summer jeep tours.  This calls for the use of modified four-wheel drive vehicles that hold 8 passengers including a driver.  The tours will be for a sight-seeing experience at speeds below 20 mph.  The vehicles will not leave the summer maintenance trails.
A hiker/pedestrian trail will be built between the Tamarack Express lift and the Tamarack Lodge.  This will be a summer sight-seeing trail.
These improvements have not received final approval.  For more information, contact Matt Dickinson (Contract Coordinator) at 530-543-2769.
