Sierra Cup Mountain bike racing begins May 12.

The Sierra Cup is an eight race point series to determine the USA Cycling mountain bike champions for the Northern California/Nevada region. There are cross-country and downhill events with categories for all levels of riders.  Race distances vary with each event and are based on ability categories.
The first event is the Rockhopper Classic this weekend in Vacaville.  The downhill race begins at 8:00am on a technical 2.4 mile course.  The cross-country event starts at 11:00am.  This is a 9.5 mile loop course with 1,600 feet of elevation gain per lap.
Race day registration is accepted (with a $10 late fee) on both events.  A 2012 USAC license is required.  A one day license is available at registration for $5 dollars.  Sign-up on-line at:   http://timeyourrace.com/Rockhopper/Reg.asp
