Top level position changes at Vail Resorts Lake Tahoe

Vail Resorts, owner of Kirkwood, Heavenly, and NorthStar, announced two management changes.  Heavenly’s new director of Mountain Operations will be James Grant.  Grant will oversee the operation of the Ski Patrol, Snowmaking, Grooming, Terrain Parks, Mountain Safety, Adventure Peak, Race/Events, Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance.  Grant has spent the last 8 years of employment as Heavenly’s director of Lift Operations.
Heavenly’s General Manager, Pete Sonntag, says “James will play a vital role as we build on Heavenly’s success and take this resort to the next level”.
Grant was born and raised in Australia.  He came to Heavenly in 1992 and worked as a lift operator.  He lives in the Lake Tahoe area with his wife and two children, ages 15 and 9.

Jim Larmore was appointed to Director of Mountain Operations for NorthStar.  Larmore has been working at NorthStar for the last 25 years.  His most recent position was Snow Surfaces Director.  Larmore was responsible for snowmaking, grooming and special projects at NorthStar.

Larmore and his family live in Carson City, NV.
Bill Rock, vice president and chief operating officer at NorthStar, said Larmore “has the ability to help take us to the next level with regard to mountain operations”.
So there we have it.  NorthStar and Heavenly are poised to take their mountains to the “next level”.  I wonder what the next level means.  For now, all is quiet at Kirkwood, but I think it’s time they take Kirkwood mountain operations to the next level as well.  Kirkwood could use a little paint, snowmaking, grooming, and lift upgrades.
