Freestyle skier Sara Burke is remembered with street rename

The Canadian freestyle skier who died in a training accident this year, will be honored with a street named after her. Burke Way is a re-named street in the town where she grew up in Midland, Ontario.

Burke died at the age of 29 while practicing in the superpipe in Park City, Utah. Burke was instrumental in getting superpipe skiing onto the schedule for the 2014 Olympics. She was expected to be a gold metal contender.

According to the Canadian Press, her father, Gord Burke, is proud and honored by the move to rename the street, which was organized by neighbors without his knowledge.

Earlier this year, the Canadian Olympic committee announced that Burke would be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame.

The following is a film trailer, featuring Sarah Burke.
