Lindsey Vonn wants to ski against the men this year in competition. Vonn wrote a letter to the International Ski Federation (FIS), asking that she be allowed to compete against men in the first event of the season.
Vonn said her intent is to enhance the image of women’s Alpine skiing, but critics say it would give her an unfair advantage over her female competitors. The rules state that a competitor is not allowed on a course the week prior to competition. If Vonn is allowed to race with the men, she would be on the same course the week before the women’s competition.
The FIS will consider Vonn’s request. A close examination of the rules will of course be made prior to a decision.
Vonn is a 4 time World Cup winner.
