Afghanistan Skiing Adventure talk coming to Moody’s

Moody’s presents an evening with Ben Mitchell at Moody’s on January 8, 8:00pm. Mitchell is a certified IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide that lives in Truckee. Mitchell has led trips through Alaska, the Cascades, the Sierra and the Alps.  He also loves skiing, climbing and BASE jumping.
Mitchell will present a talk about his one month journey through Afghanistan to search out and ski unskied terrain. Mitchell and three others wandered the Wakhan Corridor to ski anything possible.

Skiing in Afghanistan is not without risk.  There are a handful of factions with various political points of view that might be encountered when crossing the boarders. Violence is always a possibility. A local guide who knows the roads and the people is imperative.
There will be a slide show of their adventures in the high altitude terrain. There adventure took them to extremely remote and untraveled areas in search of high snowy mountains.
Ben Mitchell’s website is:

Moody’s Bistro andBeats is located at the corner of Donner Pass Road and Bridge Street.
