Big mountain Banzai at Kirkwood

This weekend, Kirkwood will open for the first of four stops on Rahlves’ Banzai Tour. The Banzai Tour was created by World Cup and Olympic ski racer Daron Rahlves. The race format is unique and the courses are long and hairy. Rahlves describes the race as “rowdy, wow, wild, hold on, and good luck”.

After qualifying runs are completed, the racing starts with four people in the starting chute.  The first two down the ungroomed course advance to the next round. The last man/woman standing wins. Winners will race against Daron Rahlves in the “Super Final” at Sugar Bowl.

The prize purse is $15,000 per venue and $35,000 for the finals at Sugar Bowl.
Spectating is free (with your pass) and fun to watch. They have music, race announcers, food tents, sponsor booths, and beer.
Tour Dates:
Feb. 2-3, Kirkwood, Wall Banzai
Feb. 9-10, Alpine Meadows, Face Banzai
March 2-3, Squaw Valley, KT-22 Banzai
