Maddie Bowman and Jamie Anderson, from South Lake Tahoe, won Gold at the X Games in Aspen.
Bowman won the Women’s Ski Superpipe event by a commanding lead (91.3 points) over second place Roz Groenewoud with 86.66 points. Megan Gunning placed third with 85 points. Bowman’s winning run (her first) consisted of two rightside 900 no grabs with a height of more than 8 feet.
Anderson won the gold in Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle with a best score of 93. Sarka Pancochova was silver with a score of 90, and Spencer O’Brien scored 88.66 for bronze. Today’s win is her second in a row and her fifth X Games slopestyle medal. Anderson laid down a big cab 720 to clinch today’s win.
Elena Hight, also from South Lake Tahoe, won the silver medal in the women's snowboard superpipe event. She was edged out by Kelly Clark by less than one point!
Sunday’s X Games action will include finals for men and women ski slopestyle and the men’s superpipe. Louri Podladtchikov is ranked number one going in to the superpipe finals. Shaun White is ranked number two. Scotty Lago is the third ranking. Let's see if Northstar's spokesman, Shaun White, can pull off the win tomorrow.
The next date for the X Games is March 20-22 in Tignes, France.
