March accident at Northstar leaves man paralyzed

facebook photo
Cody Walker was boarding with some friends on March 1, 2013, when a jump went terribly wrong. Walker went off a jump and landed on his head. His friends knew it was bad and rushed to his aid. He was transported to a Reno hospital where they found multiple broken vertebrae and multiple hip breaks.
The injury has left Walker paralyzed from the neck down, but it is too soon to know if the paralysis is permanent.
Friends hope to return Walker home to Utah for his 35th birthday on March 17. Walker was in California on a ski vacation.

Walker is very motivated to recover because he has two young children and a third due in 4 or 5 months. Friends have opened a “SupportCody” facebook page to follow his recovery.
KRNV News 4 in Reno, reported a Northstar ski accident that resulted in death on January 19, 2013. A 24 year-old skier (name withheld) was found on the Prosser Trail unconscious. He was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he passed away. There are no further details except that the deceased was wearing a helmet.
