The Lake Tahoe Community College board has agreed to continue working with event promoters for the return of SnowGlobe. SnowGoble is a multi-day music festival that takes place on campus during the New Year's Eve weekend.
SnowGlobe 2012 is the music event 19 year-old Alyssa Byrne attended before dying of hypothermia on her walk home.
The community college board has concerns regarding the low temperatures in December, combined with alcohol and drug use at the event. Another concern is the damage to the college's playing field where the event is staged.
The City of South Lake Tahoe and business leaders are happy to have the event because of the revenue (an estimated $5 million) it brings to the area.
Time will tell if the College board can work out the problems with event promoters.
