Popular paddle board race at Sand Harbor


Tahoe’s Thunderbird Run paddle board race gets underway June 15, 2013 at Sand Harbor on the East shore.  Thunderbird Run is a race for all ages and abilities. They have categories for SUP, prone, and board length. Kids 12 and under have a short buoy course near shore.
The race is an 8 mile out-and-back course, traveling south along the East shore. Racers are required to use a board leash and have a personal flotation device. The race starts at 10:00am, with a barbecue at 11:30am. Register to race on-line or on race day.

Sand Harbor is a Nevada State Beach three miles south of Incline Village on State route 28. The harbor has 55 acres of sandy beaches, rocky coves, shady forest areas and panoramic lake views. Amenities include picnicking, visitor center, nature study, swimming, food concession, and beautiful crystal clear lake water for paddling.
