Truckee Bikeway construction will bring street closure

Phase one of the multiphase street widening project of Glenshire Drive will begin next week. Road construction will be between Berkshire Circle and Highland Avenue. Construction will cause night-time closing of Glenshire Drive between 9:00pm and 6:00am (Sunday through Thursday) through October of 2013. There will also be occasional one lane traffic during the day.
The detour for most Glenshire residents will be Hwy. 80 to the Hirschdale Road exit. Emergency vehicles and Glenshire residents living within the work zone will be allowed to travel through the work zone.

The construction project involves drainage improvements, pavement reconstruction, rock walls, and widening of the roadway up to 36 feet. The widening will allow 5 foot wide bike lanes in both directions.
Phase 2 will continue the street widening project to Donner Pass Road. Phase 2 is expected to begin the summer of 2014.
A second bike trail project is underway along Brockway Road.  This is a bike path that extends from The Rock to Truckee Regional Park. Construction on this project is scheduled to be completed this year.
