Man drowns at Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe
The Sacramento Bee is reporting a drowning last Friday at Sand Harbor. The victim, 42 year-old Kenneth Campo of San Mateo fell off a rental paddleboard 200 to 300 yards from shore.

An employee from the paddleboard rental company responded to Campo's call for help and located him under about 20 feet of water. Efforts to revive Campo were unsuccessful. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The paddleboard had a foot leash and personal flotation device, but neither was used by the victim. The initial investigation indicates Campo borrowed the paddleboard from someone. He was not the renter of the board. The drowning accident is still under investigation.

A unnamed man was found dead in the water at Sand Harbor on August 3rd, from an apparent drowning.

There was a 17 year-old drowning victim at Emerald Bay on August 16th, when the boy jumped out of the family boat for a swim.
