Squaw Valley installs free electric car chargers

Squaw Valley announced the installation of 4 EV charging stations, making it the first California ski resort to do so.

Andy Wirth, President and CEO of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows said he is "committed to protecting the special mountain environment". The charging stations represent "part of our extensive efforts that we're taking on as part of our environmental stewardship efforts".

The chargers are CS-40 pedestal units that will charge the majority of EVs. They are 30 amp, 240 volt, J1772 compliant charging stations.

Charging is free to guests, 7 days a week. Guests are asked to limit parking/charging to 10 hours per day . The chargers are on the western edge of the Far East building next to the Cornice Cantina.

Squaw and Alpine were brought under common ownership in 2011. One pass or ticket provides skiing/riding at 2 resorts, 6, 000 skiable acres and 43 lifts.
