Two Colorado ski resorts have opened

Arapahoe Basin and Love Land Ski Area are open for business. Love Land is reporting 9 inches of snow in the past 24 hours with an 18 inch base and one lift open. Arapahoe is reporting 5 inches in the past 24 hours with an 18 inch base and one lift open.

Diamond Peak

Arapahoe Basin has 960 skiable acres with a summit elevation of 13,050 feet and a base elevation of 10,780 feet. Love Land Ski Area has 1,800 skiable acres with a summit elevation of 13,010 feet and a base elevation of 10,800 feet.

Both resorts are approximately 80 miles west of Denver International Airport on Highway 6, just off U.S. 70. Only a fraction of the available runs are open at both locations so it wouldn't be worth the flight to Denver. For that matter, it might not be worth the drive if you lived in Denver.

The early opening of these two resorts is exciting news for those of us hoping for a good season at Tahoe. Northstar recently announced November 22nd as their targeted opening day. Squaw Valley is hoping to open November 27th. Let the snow start falling!
