Lake Tahoe Christmas tree cutting permits go on sale

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will begin permit sales for Christmas tree cutting on Monday, November 18, 2013. Permits cost $10 dollars each with a limit of two permits per family.

2,500 permits will be issued for cutting in designated areas only. The Forest Service says the permits help thin the forest of smaller trees, which creates a healthier forest.
