Truckee's Doug Stoup guides Warren Miller crew to Greenland

Doug Stoup is a Polar Guide, motivational speaker, filmmaker, ski and snowboard mountaineer, environmentalist and expedition leader. He has appeared in numerous films and has led several expeditions for film crews.

Stoup led the skiers and crew through Greenland for the latest Warren Miller film; Ticket to Ride. The expedition included a ride by boat, ski, and dogsled, to the very remote and never skied terrain shown in the movie. Lake Tahoe skier Michelle Parker joined Ted Ligety and Mark Abma for the epic Greenland skiing scenes.

Doug Stoup operates Ice Axe Expeditions in Truckee. Stoup has been instrumental in several other Warren Miller films. His accomplishments include ascents of Kilimanjaro and Cho Oyu, and expeditions to the North Pole and South Pole.

Stoup is also an accomplished Stand Up Paddleboarder. He circumnavigated Lake Tahoe (76 miles) and led a Stand Up Paddleboard expedition on the Rio Negro in Brazil.
