Tahoe area Snow Survey puts Tahoe ahead of Northern and Southern California

Good snow at Tahoe
The storm window is currently open in the Tahoe area. Local resorts reported 7 to 15 inches of new snow today.

Today's storm added 3% to our local snowpack. The snow water equivalent for Central California (which includes Lake Tahoe) is now at 32% of normal for this date.

The North and South regions of the state are at 15% and 24% of normal, bringing the statewide percent of normal to 24%.

Another storm is on the way Friday and into Saturday, with possible snow accumulation of several inches above 7,000 feet. Expect snow showers throughout the day Saturday and mostly cloudy weather on Sunday.

For casual skiers from the bay area and the valley; this is your weekend to make the drive up the hill!
