The 22nd annual Donner Party Hike is a series of walks and hikes that explore early pioneer routes over Donner Pass. The hikes will have knowledgeable guides who will explain the history of the early pioneers. You will experience beautiful views as you follow in the footsteps of early immigrants that suffered along the way.

There are several hikes planned for Saturday, October 4 which depart and end at Sugar Bowl’s Mt. Judah Lodge. 15-20 hikers are allowed on each of the hikes. Bring good shoes, water, snacks, and sunscreen.
Sunday, October 5 is a walking tour of the Donner Party Camps. The Donner Party was held down by an early winter in 1846. The group split into two camps, one near the east end of Donner Lake and the other at Alder Creek off Highway 89.
Interested hikers should sign-up online at the Donner Party Hike website. Hikes begin at 7:30 and 8:00am. The Mt. Judah Lodge is on Highway 40 near Donner Summit.
