King Fire after weather change

King Fire Smoke.

Fire fighters are gaining some control over the King Fire that was started by an arsonist on September 13, 2014. The fire has burned an estimated 95,347 acres and is 43% contained.  The total personnel involved with the King Fire is 8,002 people, using 23 helicopters, 568 fire engines, and 102 dozers.

A favorable weather system brought cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and light rain to the fire on Wednesday. A cold front is expected to push through the fire on Thursday with scattered showers and wind speeds of 15-30 mph at the ridge tops. Cooler temperatures and a chance of showers are expected to last through Saturday.
