Prescribed burns begin at Tunnel Creek, Incline

Lake Tahoe from Tunnel Creek Road.

Tunnel Creek Road from Hwy. 28 to the Tahoe Rim Trail may be closed at times during the months of October and November for prescribed burns. A series of 6 burns will be conducted, weather permitting, to reduce the ground level fuels and maintain health in the forest.

Expect to see smoke in the area on burn days. This area is very popular with hikers and mountain bikers using the Flume Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail, Tunnel Creek, and Red House Flume Trail.

The Nevada Division of Forestry will be burning approximately 35 acres in the 6-burn series. 775-684-2500.

Fires restrictions have been rescinded for all western and southern Nevada State Parks and the Mount Charleston Fire Protection District.
