|Ride 2 Recovery for injured vets.|
Cycling enthusiasts will be treated to two stages of the Women’s Amgen Tour in South Lake Tahoe beginning this Friday, May 8, 2015. The professional riders will begin their ride from Heavenly Mountain Resort at 11:00am for a 74 mile race around Lake Tahoe.
A citizen race called Ride 2 Recovery begins at Heavenly Mountain Resort 30 minutes after the Amgen Tour start. Participants will embark on a 19 mile “bike friendly” route out Pioneer Boulevard, which is much of the bike route for Stage 2 of the Women’s Amgen Tour on Saturday.
The Ride 2 Recovery is designed to raise money for America’s healing heroes. Proceeds go to mental and physical rehabilitation programs to injured veterans through cycling. Cycling programs at military and VA locations around the country receive funding through Ride 2 Recovery.
Registration includes a shirt, finishing medal, rest stops and SAG support. You can register here https://www.ride2recovery.com/honorRide.php or register on the day of the event.
Stage 2 of the Amgen Tour will be Saturday, May 9 from Heavenly Mountain Resort. The riders start at 10:30 for a 49.7 mile route that leads out Pioneer Trail and into Christmas Valley. The finish is back at Heavenly Mountain Resort.
