An 8-year-old girl fell from the Big Blue Express
chairlift on January 2. According to Lake Tahoe News, the girl fell from nearly 40 feet. A witness said the girl fell when the chair restarted after a stoppage.
She was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno in stable
condition with broken bones.
The girl was wearing a helmet but was not using the chair
restraint bar at the time of the accident.
The Big Blue Express is a 6-seat chairlift at the High
Camp level of Squaw Valley. This lift provides access to primarily easy and intermediate
runs.
Heavenly Valley Resort said an empty chair fell from
their North Bowl lift on January 3, 2015. The lift was stopped and 65 people
